Persian Hamadan Village Rug

Stock No:  SY-232-002038

Size(m): 1.30×0.67

This extraordinary handmade carpet from the Hamadan village in Persia, now Iran, is a masterpiece of artistry and symbolism. Its measures 1.3 metre by 0.67 metre.

At its heart lies a central motif reminiscent of a cross, composed of four squares surrounding a vibrant green square. This motif, evoking the imagery of the St. George cross, symbolizes the outward movement of energy or life force, akin to the cosmic explosion of the Big Bang. The striking yellow bands extending from the cross serve as a visual representation of this dynamic energy, infusing the carpet with vitality and movement.

The central medallion, a composition of various shapes and motifs, including a captivating lozenge shape within a stylized flower, exudes a sense of elegance and symmetry. The protrusions extending north and south from the medallion further enhance its visual impact, transforming its shape into an ecliptical form that commands attention.

The field of the carpet is adorned with stylized trees of life, symbolizing the majesty and wonder of the divine conduit from heaven to earth. These stylized trees, depicted with branches and flowers, evoke the beauty and abundance of spring, with a vibrant array of colors ranging from blues, greens, pinks, and various shades in between.

The guard borders, comprising three distinct bands, frame the carpet with exquisite detail and craftsmanship. The inner guard border, with its light cream white base color, features a delicate vine motif with stylized flowers emerging from its tendrils. Moving outward, the main guard border, with its dark black base, showcases clearer depictions of flowers in white, yellow, and blue hues. Finally, the outer guard border, mirroring the base color of the field, boasts a rich rusty wine tone and features a climbing vine with flowers weaving through its expanse.

This carpet, with its stunning beauty and rich symbolism, would make a sensational addition to any setting, serving as a captivating accent piece that elevates the ambiance of any room. Whether placed in an entry foyer, near a doorway, or alongside a piece of furniture, it is sure to command attention and admiration.

Purchase with complete confidence and embrace the timeless beauty and symbolism embodied in this magnificent carpet.

When choosing a rug for your living room, less is not more. Smaller rugs can make a space look smaller or cluttered in comparison to larger rugs which give the illusion of a more spacious room.
For a classic living layout, place the rug in the centre of the room and place the front legs of your sofa and armchairs on the rug. This will help create a better aesthetic and cleaner appearance.
A rug in the bedroom is all about a warm and comfortable underfoot, especially for those with hard flooring! For those wanting a larger rug for the room, we recommend a rectangular rug that sits right under the lower end of the bed and extends at least 50cm beyond the sides of the bed (depending on the size of your bedroom).
For those who don’t want a large rug but still want a warm underfoot when getting out of bed, we recommend a round or runner rug to place at either side of the bed.
Scale and proportion is key when placing a rug in your dining room. As a rule, you want your rug to be large enough to accommodate all the dining chairs, even when they are pulled out from the table. We recommend your rug be large enough to extend around 60-70cm beyond your table.
For high traffic, spill-risk areas like the dining area, we recommend a low-pile rug and easy-to-clean material like polypropylene for a rug.
