Persian Hamadan Village Rug

Stock No: PE-232-000852

Size(m): 3.39×1.63

Discover the extraordinary beauty of this handmade carpet from the renowned Hamadan region of Persia, modern-day Iran. Crafted from the finest wool, this rug measures 3.39 by 1.63 meters, offering a stunning blend of intricate design and rich symbolism that will elevate any space.

Design and Features:

- Dimensions: 3.39 by 1.63 meters

- Material: High-quality wool

- Central Medallion Motif: Features five striking medallions connected by a causeway-like band, each medallion shaped as a six-sided diamond.

- Symbolic Crosses: At the heart of each medallion is a stylized cross. The central medallion displays a soft pink cross, while the other four (two north and two south) feature dark green crosses. In Persian culture, these crosses symbolize movement and expansion in all directions (north, east, south, and west), rather than having a religious connotation.

- Tree of Life: The green crosses are adorned with branch-like extensions, hinting at the Tree of Life—a significant symbol in Persian art representing growth, renewal, and the connection between heaven and earth. These branches are more clearly stylized in the side motifs, making the symbolic representation unmistakable.

- Main Guard Border: Adorned with a repeat floral motif, the border features stylized flowers that add an element of elegance and beauty. The base color of the main field is a rich dark tone, possibly black, which enhances the vibrant motifs.

Color Palette:

- Base Colors: Dark tones such as black and shades of gray

- Accent Colors: Sand gold, bronze, white, orange, and various hues that add depth and interest

Versatile Uses:

1. Grand Hallway: Perfect for a spacious hallway, this carpet adds a touch of luxury and sophistication.

2. Living Room: Place it under a coffee table or as a central piece in a living room to create a focal point and enhance the aesthetic appeal.

3.Bedroom: Ideal for placement at the foot of the bed or as a runner along the side, adding warmth and style.

4. Library or Study: The intricate design and symbolic richness make it a great addition to a library or study, enriching the space with cultural depth.

Aesthetic and Practical Appeal:

- Intricate Design: The combination of stylized crosses and floral motifs creates a visually captivating piece that tells a story of growth and expansion.

- Color Harmony: The interplay of dark and accent colors creates a visually stunning and balanced design.

- Durability: Made from high-quality wool, this carpet is not only beautiful but also practical, offering comfort and warmth underfoot.

Invest in Timeless Elegance:

This handmade carpet from Hamadan is a masterpiece of Persian craftsmanship, blending intricate design with rich cultural symbolism.

When choosing a rug for your living room, less is not more. Smaller rugs can make a space look smaller or cluttered in comparison to larger rugs which give the illusion of a more spacious room.
For a classic living layout, place the rug in the centre of the room and place the front legs of your sofa and armchairs on the rug. This will help create a better aesthetic and cleaner appearance.
A rug in the bedroom is all about a warm and comfortable underfoot, especially for those with hard flooring! For those wanting a larger rug for the room, we recommend a rectangular rug that sits right under the lower end of the bed and extends at least 50cm beyond the sides of the bed (depending on the size of your bedroom).
For those who don’t want a large rug but still want a warm underfoot when getting out of bed, we recommend a round or runner rug to place at either side of the bed.
Scale and proportion is key when placing a rug in your dining room. As a rule, you want your rug to be large enough to accommodate all the dining chairs, even when they are pulled out from the table. We recommend your rug be large enough to extend around 60-70cm beyond your table.
For high traffic, spill-risk areas like the dining area, we recommend a low-pile rug and easy-to-clean material like polypropylene for a rug.
