Persian Hamadan
Stock No. ADL-232-001776
Size(m):2.15 x 1.30
This magnificent handmade carpet, crafted from wool in the village of Hamadan in Persia (modern-day Iran), is a stunning testament to traditional artistry. Measuring 2.15 by 1.30 meters, it features a central medallion that captivates with its intricate and symbolic design.
At the very center, a small dot is enclosed within a solid white circle, segmented like a pizza into black slices. These segments can be interpreted as either a flower’s receptacle or stylized petals. Moving outward, the design expands into larger motifs, which likely represent stylized petals. Positioned to the north and south, these motifs are circular, while those to the east and west resemble the wings of an eagle, rendered in a solid, brush-stroke orange color.
Surrounding this central motif is a base color of varied shades, combining orange-yellow hues with tinges of grey and dark red. This creates a rich, textured backdrop that enhances the stylized floral patterns and probable depictions of the Tree of Life—symbolizing the connection between the divine and the earthly.
As the design expands, it incorporates more detailed representations of flowers on stems and additional Tree of Life motifs. The next band features a white or cream base, adorned with superbly rendered natural elements, including flowers and possibly stylized animals.
The outer regions of the carpet maintain this intricate interplay of motifs against a backdrop that echoes the inner guard bands' colors. The corners of the field and the main guard border share the same base color, creating a cohesive visual flow. The outer guard borders, running along the east and west edges, reinforce this continuity.
This carpet exemplifies the creativity of a genius and the excellence of skilled weavers. Its modest size makes it an ideal accent piece for a room, adding a touch of sumptuous luxury while maintaining a deep connection to the earth and nature. Purchase this carpet with complete confidence, knowing it will bring timeless beauty and cultural richness to your home.
For a classic living layout, place the rug in the centre of the room and place the front legs of your sofa and armchairs on the rug. This will help create a better aesthetic and cleaner appearance.

For those who don’t want a large rug but still want a warm underfoot when getting out of bed, we recommend a round or runner rug to place at either side of the bed.

For high traffic, spill-risk areas like the dining area, we recommend a low-pile rug and easy-to-clean material like polypropylene for a rug.
