Persian Hamadan Village Rug

Stock No. ADL-232-001743

Size(m): 1.90×1.25

This exquisite handmade carpet hails from the Hamadan village area in Persia, now modern-day Iran. Crafted from wool, it features a stunning central medallion that captures the eye with its intricate and vibrant design.

At the heart of the carpet lies a beautifully detailed flower. The central part of this flower is white, surrounded by a rose-red receptacle, and adorned with eight small orange petals, creating a delicate and harmonious composition. This central flower is further enclosed by four large petals in pistachio green, suggesting another flower layer, which adds depth and complexity to the motif.

This evolving floral design is set within a diamond-shaped lozenge at the core of the central medallion. The base color of this medallion is a rich, abrash red, characterized by subtle variations in shade due to the natural dye process. These variations, or "abrash," add depth, texture, and authenticity, showcasing the handmade nature of the carpet and its connection to the natural world.

Surrounding the central medallion, the carpet features an array of stylized motifs, possibly primitive representations of the Boteh pattern, symbolizing growth and fertility. The harmonious interplay of reds, pistachio greens, and other earthy tones creates a visually captivating effect. The strong presence of red in the corners of the main field provides a striking backdrop to the continuous floral and natural motifs.

The inner guard border of the carpet is adorned with vibrant yellow-gold accents, which serve as a base for motifs in green, rosy pink, and dark brown. These colors are echoed in the main and outer guard borders, adding vibrancy and cohesion to the overall design.

Though not large enough to serve as the centerpiece in a spacious sitting room, this carpet makes an exceptional accent piece. It would be perfect in a cozy nook, perhaps under a café-style dining table in a kitchen or a small sitting area, enhancing the space with its beauty and cultural richness.

This magnificent carpet is a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of its creators. It promises to bring joy and pleasure to its owner, serving as a cherished legacy for generations to come. Embrace this masterpiece and let it transform your space with its timeless elegance and profound cultural significance.

When choosing a rug for your living room, less is not more. Smaller rugs can make a space look smaller or cluttered in comparison to larger rugs which give the illusion of a more spacious room.
For a classic living layout, place the rug in the centre of the room and place the front legs of your sofa and armchairs on the rug. This will help create a better aesthetic and cleaner appearance.
A rug in the bedroom is all about a warm and comfortable underfoot, especially for those with hard flooring! For those wanting a larger rug for the room, we recommend a rectangular rug that sits right under the lower end of the bed and extends at least 50cm beyond the sides of the bed (depending on the size of your bedroom).
For those who don’t want a large rug but still want a warm underfoot when getting out of bed, we recommend a round or runner rug to place at either side of the bed.
Scale and proportion is key when placing a rug in your dining room. As a rule, you want your rug to be large enough to accommodate all the dining chairs, even when they are pulled out from the table. We recommend your rug be large enough to extend around 60-70cm beyond your table.
For high traffic, spill-risk areas like the dining area, we recommend a low-pile rug and easy-to-clean material like polypropylene for a rug.
