Persian Hamadan Village Rug

Stock No. ADL-232-001757

Size(m): 1.90×1.30

This enchanting and magnificent handmade carpet from the Hamadan region of Persia, modern-day Iran, is a true testament to the artistry and cultural heritage of its origin. Featuring a central medallion set within a stylized Saint Andrew's and Christian cross, the design is uniquely captivating. The cross motif extends into a field of deep, rich red hues with an abrash effect, providing a sense of depth and complexity to the overall appearance.

While the cross may not carry the same religious significance in Persian culture as it does in Christian communities, it adds a unique geometric elegance to the carpet. What stands out, however, is the profound symbolism of the Tree of Life, a central theme in Persian art that represents creation, growth, and the divine connection between heaven and earth.

The heart of the carpet showcases a lozenge-shaped medallion positioned at the intersection of the cross motifs. This lozenge acts as a focal point, surrounded by the directional points of the compass, each embedded within a white base lozenge motif. These motifs are adorned with stylized birds, flowers, and trees, each carrying significant cultural symbolism. Birds often represent messengers between the divine and the earthly realms, while flowers symbolize spring, renewal, and the cyclical nature of life, where the seeds of today promise the beauty of tomorrow.

The carpet's palette is a symphony of red hues, accented with pinks, browns, aquamarine, and shades of blue. These colors harmonize beautifully, creating a visual masterpiece that is both vibrant and serene.

Though modest in size measuring 1.9 x 1.3 metres, this carpet is a powerful accent piece that will bring an air of sophistication and cultural depth to any room. Its intricate patterns and rich symbolism make it not just a decorative item but a piece of art that tells a story. Owning this carpet is a step into the rich tapestry of Persian history and craftsmanship.

Purchase this exquisite carpet with total confidence, knowing it will provide years of aesthetic pleasure and become a cherished family heirloom for generations to come.

When choosing a rug for your living room, less is not more. Smaller rugs can make a space look smaller or cluttered in comparison to larger rugs which give the illusion of a more spacious room.
For a classic living layout, place the rug in the centre of the room and place the front legs of your sofa and armchairs on the rug. This will help create a better aesthetic and cleaner appearance.
A rug in the bedroom is all about a warm and comfortable underfoot, especially for those with hard flooring! For those wanting a larger rug for the room, we recommend a rectangular rug that sits right under the lower end of the bed and extends at least 50cm beyond the sides of the bed (depending on the size of your bedroom).
For those who don’t want a large rug but still want a warm underfoot when getting out of bed, we recommend a round or runner rug to place at either side of the bed.
Scale and proportion is key when placing a rug in your dining room. As a rule, you want your rug to be large enough to accommodate all the dining chairs, even when they are pulled out from the table. We recommend your rug be large enough to extend around 60-70cm beyond your table.
For high traffic, spill-risk areas like the dining area, we recommend a low-pile rug and easy-to-clean material like polypropylene for a rug.
